If you’re a certified teacher and you want to be your own boss and make more money than you can in the district, you should start a preschool! Bethany Johnson really wanted to be a stay at home mom, but she really wanted to have more of an identity than only being a mom and she also really wanted to have her own income. But the one thing she knew for sure was she was dissatisfied with her job teaching 1st and 2nd grades for the local school district. She wanted the freedom to be able to teach the way she wanted to teach. So, she decided to quit her job and start a preschool.

Bethany Johnson really wanted to be a stay at home mom, but she really wanted to have more of an identity than only being a mom and she also really wanted to have her own income. She was torn between both worlds. But the one thing she knew for sure was she was dissatisfied with her job teaching 1st and 2nd grades for the local school district. She wanted the freedom to be able to teach the way she wanted to teach. So, she decided to quit her job and start a preschool.
Having committed to one more year with the district, she read, and researched, and set up her preschool room just right, she got her preschool license and printed out hundreds of advertising flyers gearing up for her Open House in March of 2020—the week that Covid hit.
Really discouraged by this turn of events, but not willing to give up, she joined Joy Anderson’s training and learned how to teach online. Fast forward to now and she is teaching full classes of both online and local preschool and is making more money than he did working for the school district—working fewer hours!
Listen as she shares her journey, her victories, and her tips for starting both an online and a local preschool and growing along the way.
