Episode Notes

If your circle times are chaotic and loud, and you find yourself drained and giving up, listen in for today’s tips on how to engage preschoolers at circle time! Circle time requires two things: 1) All the children gathered in one place and 2) All the children focused on one task. But you’re working with 3-5 year olds! Is that even possible?

With Jocelyn Manzanarez’s techniques it is possible! Jocelyn is the owner of Musically Minded and she has been perfecting her skills in engaging preschoolers for about 20 years. Using a variety of activities, Jocelyn teaches how to involve children in circle time by activating several of their senses at once, alternating between sitting and movement, and making each child feel like they belong in your class, at your circle time, with friends who love and care for them.

A child’s brain needs a lot of oxygen and they get that through movement. A large part of having engaging circle times is giving the children something to do. From finger plays, to instrument play, to stories, and so much more, listen as Jocelyn imparts her vast wealth of knowledge on the who, what, when, where, why, and how of an engaging circle time.
